Yellowstone
For this Labor Day holiday I went to Yellowstone National Park (I will be posting pictures). I have to day no matter how much you have traveled and all the amazing places you have been it has to be one of the most sacred spaces on this planet. There is an energy there produces by the geothermal activity, dramatic geology, and innumerable wildlife. Yes there are billions of tourist, but if you wake up before the tour busses and screaming children, tranquility if found. Mist settles on velvet horns and billows up from rivers and geysers. I and the most amazing opportunity to be about 15 feet away from a bugling Elk. We had just arrived at the beginning of the rut. I would have to say the best part about it though is the geology. How is it that only a few thousand square miles can produce so much past and present geologic actively. I guess it is "not a question of if but when" we will get to see it the producer of such a landscape unfold, the infamous Super Volcano. After such an experience I am determined to see Yellowstone during the winter. I can't think of anything more adventurous than cross country skiing through herds and hot pots.
